David Byrne’s office/studio - the idea is to make people walk across this so that each person changes what’s coming out of the amp depending what pedals they step on. Byrne’s the best.

Might have a wee clearout of the people I follow.

All I get is obsessive fans of shit bands and woe is me sob stories.

You’re lonely because you are socially inept.

Just home from work and I’m having a wee think.

Where do some people learn their social skills?

Its clearly not passed down by their parents and it certainly isn’t from actual interactions.

Working on a very small bar in a very busy nightclub means I get a better chance to interact with the customers that I serve. Most of them have no idea what to do when I try to have some chat with them.

I don’t want to blame social networking sites because I’m very much from that era and I think I have more than enough social skills to properly interact with people, even strangers.

That’s the interaction side questioned, now on to manners.

It really bugs me when people are rude or ignorant to others. Not just in a service scenario but even just walking about. Folk will bump into you, even push you out of the way to get somewhere without an ‘excuse me’ or a ‘sorry’.

The biggest one for me is please and thank you. About 80% of people that I served tonight had obviously never uttered the words.

I used to challenge it but now I just don’t bother. There’s just no saving some people.

It really bugs me. Its not difficult. It doesn’t take effort and it doesn’t cost you money. Just be fucking nice to people. Especially when they’re doing something for you.

I don’t expect this to change anything.

Aokigahara (青木ヶ原?). There are over 100 dead bodies found in the Aokigahara in Japan every year. It’s known as the place where most suicides, after the Golden Gate Bridge, take place. You can wander around and suddenly come across rotten bodies, guns, razor blades, suicide letters nailed on trees. A sign at the forests entry tries to hold people back,”mind your children, mind your parents, talk about your pain”,a phone number of a suicide hotline under it. Even children were found dead in the Forest. Old cars are standing in front of the forest, broken bicycles. There are tents with dead bodies, arms, legs, even eyes in them lying around. A haunting, but fascinating Place.

Chilling.
